12th of October 2024
At this year’s Terento Cattle drive the farmers will again take their cattle back from the Alp to their home farms and into the warm stables. For cows, calves and lamas this is the end of lofty heights, fresh mountain air, aromatic grass and cool nights. Wearing bells and beautifully decorated wreaths and flowers they are driven down into the valley. With processional floats bearing household goods and small animals, Goaslkrocha whip cracking, Schuhplattler dancing, farmers market and musical entertainment the event turns into a lively festival.
From 10:00 am the local clubs and associations run several stalls in the village offering rural delicacies such as Tirschtlan pastries, barely soup, Pressknödel cheesy dumplings and more. Farmers from the region sell their own products such as honey, wine, juices, Speck cured ham, brandies, cheese, felt slippers, wood turned crafts and more. Around 2:00 pm the cattle drive runs through Terento village centre.
